Back in 1984, a lady came to a small town in the hopes of becoming a world class runner that will participate in the Olympics. Four short years have enabled her to see it all through her greenish brown eyes. She was able to bag sixth place when she competed in the 1988 Olympics held in Seoul Korea as she joined the 3,000 meter run. This young world class runner finally graduated from the local school last December. She may only be 23, but she is already perceived as the princess of American middle distance running and this paved the way for a prestigious three year endorsement contract for her with a famous shoe manufacturer. More information on the topic of medical jobs is located at health careers.
But then this young Delaware native decided to stay right where she is for now. She courses the environs of the campus during her regular workout activities. The feet of this five foot six, 110 pound runner barely touch the ground as she races against her own finish line. She gets fidgety with fame especially when people ask for her autograph. She gets bothered with special treatment for she is a humble lady who believes that she is just another average person.
She is very normal but she certainly is not your average girl. She was the first girl from their town to ever get the chance to compete in the Olympics. She is a proud member of 7 world record relay teams as well as four American collegiate records. Because of her invaluable prowess as an athletic leader, their school brought home 14 prestigious title wins during the Big East finals along with 8 individual honors during the NCAA championship. She has also bagged tons of major honors.
Now that she has already graduated from collegiate competitions, she has begun planning her sports career with the help of her track coach. She has to adjust a lot of her present mentalities to survive this big change. It is only the people who have experienced such who will be able to understand this. She really struggles through a sea of pressure to be a successful runner, but it is her own self that exerts that pressure on her. Being under the three year contract with the famous shoe company, her greatest fear would be sustaining any forms of injuries. Thanks to more eyes being on her and counting on her a lot these days, she’s begun to feel the apprehension that she’s never felt before. Thank you for reading about nursing jobs in middle east and medical jobs.
A lot of people want to know how the local women’s track team would fare now that she’s gone. She says, of course they can for they a magnificent team. She values her privacy and wants to protect herself from the notoriety, pressures and responsibilities in her life. There were also some adjustments in their family for her parents and siblings had to deal with being known as her kin. She notes that while her parents were never pushy, they were very encouraging and laid back.
With her stardom comes the positive trait which is the company she keeps. Well, she just happens to be friends with the most famous athletes who we’d just be happy to see on TV. Since she has true affection and concern with these great people that share a common link with her, she can name drop but she does so without any pretentions. For example, after returning this past June from Hawaii, where she was on a tour with a runner, she recalled that she really hadn’t seen him since the Olympics. It was great to spend three days with him, talk about old times, and have fun.
Her list of things to be accomplished hasn’t condensed at all and she admits that she’s got more time than she wants to have. More than focusing on her daily practice routines, she also organizes her schedules such as banquets, track meets, interviews or photo sessions and all that comes with being a public figure. Also, she will be volunteering at the local school’s track team to coach them and help their assistant coach so she can share her time and talent.
She hopes to volunteer in an area hospital, in keeping with the medical career she put on hold. That may help the former psychology and premed major decide whether to continue with medicine once she’s finished running professionally. Has she thought about her immediate future? She avers that even if she really wants to have a great family, this will have to wait after she has become a successful and established athlete. But for today, she only wants to do what she wants and to live up her dreams.
